Specific design question - Should I buy Actinic?

    Dear All,

I'm in the process of building an ecommerce and site and want to make the design stage as painless as possible. I like the look of actinic, but I could really do with some advice as to whether Actinic has the functionality I need.

I want to design a website which asks the user a number of questions then displays the products relevant to their answers. So for instance, the user goes to the home page, and gets asked whether he wants a DVD or CD, then he gets asked what his favourite genre is, then how much he wants to pay. From these answers, the website then looks into the database and finds what products match his criteria. (As a sidenote this isn't what I'm selling but I wanted to illustrate the point!)

Can Actinic deal with this? If so there will be one more customer!

    Thanks in advance

    Will Harmer

no way i can think that Actinic can do this as the database is held on the local PC not online and the pages are just generated static HTML pages.

I concur, look for an online database solution.

Actinic does have a search facility which allows you to filter your search by user-definable criterea. So if you had a single page where you ask customers all the questions about the products they want (which could be the front page) Actinic would then give you the products that match the criterea as search results. This is as close as we could get to what you are looking for.

That seems exactly what I want. Is there any documentation which explains this in?
