Hi everyone nice to see a community sharing their views , problems and helping others with regards to this product , were need a little help and was wondering if anyone can advise.
We are a hand and power tool retailer , been struggling with our site to be honest but chose 14 months ago to go down shop factory pro route for our site design for main reason offline development and updating offline in what we considered an easy way for relative novices , then easy upload etc etc , was reasonably ok but as weve grown , number of products , its been very long winded to be honest , we did have our eye on actinic at that time also , memory failing cant remember why not anyway .. got to reading about actinic V9 , its sage link and its automation and marketing functionability all of which was very impressive , and in our opion affordable for a small company like ours , so we took the plunge and downloaded the 30 day demo .. all of which installed fine , had a little play around very impressed , tried out sage link , imported our stock products was fine , closed database , since everytime we open database we get data truncated error.
Ive read around the forum see the issues with the product ref lenght , changed to 20 , database opens back up , import sage products again its missing all products whose length is over 20 characters long , change field length back to 30 , import again it imports , the data truncated again ...
Now an easy solution would be to make product codes ( ref ) 20 long but we cant , we sell on ebay and amazon and already have a back end solution for that called tradebox ( by platform one ) it utilises the custom field and allows use of the max character length in Sage of 30 characters , so last year we spent 3 months revising all our stock codes to accomodate this , setting up tradebox etc etc and all on that front has run very smoothly and flawlessly. With reading actinic and via sagelink was also workable etc etc this why we went down this route .
We cannot revise all our product codes again , we would have to clear our sage stock records , lose all history , reconfigure Tradebox and revise all our amazon upload files , this is a task that simply would take us 3/4 months to do and in my opinion , so not viable , it not being viable means we cant use actinic .. and actinic as we see from the demo has so much and would be so helpful for us to upgrade our site and get the site workable and profitable ...
so I ask the question ?
Has anyone an idea or advise of a patch to resolve this ..
If not has anyone any ideas how we can work around this ?
