Setting up UDV's for Data Feeds – Any Issues?

Having just upgraded to actinic business V8.5.2.0.0.0 HMVA working on a Windows Vista platform.

Now want to set-up some data feeds from actinic to export to some of our product data to some of the shopping sites and have been looking at Mole End’s Product Mash Solution which looks a really interesting product.

Trialling the software with our actinic system we have tried to set up a number of the user definable variables via the design, library and variables function on Actinic and setting up the user defined fields as suggested.

These fields are now displayed in each product section under the properties tab and we have filled in the necessary values. We have also check in the site 1 mdb file and these fields are shown, but when we come to export the data via the mash operation they do not export. We have sent this question to Mole End but wanted to check if any other forum member has had this issue before or is it our finger trouble ?

    Some additional information:

We have checked the actinic catalog mbd file and the UDP fields are present and also present on each Product under the properties tabs in actinic with all the values filled-in and the "use parent" is also in use. But none of these fields show up or are transfered to the data feed?

    Confusing or what?

    Hi Phil,

But none of these fields show up
Do you mean that they don't show on the web page against the product? Have you added the variables to your product layout?

I'm afraid that I can't help with the data feed issue as it is a mole-end product but I'm sure that you'll get an answer from them soon.

      Hi Phil,

The format for storing UDP's changed in Actinic for version 8.5.2, the latest beta version of our mash product handles both versions, so you need to make sure that you have the latest version installed. Mole End support will email you details for the beta version of the software.

        Hi Tracey & Jan,

Many thanks for your input. The issue seemed to be on the data feeds side and Jan has solved this problem with the latest beta version of Mole End’s Product Mash which seems to solve this issue, certainly in producing a Google base data feed in adding udp's is excellent and it produces a great xml feed.

It’s a pity that Google can’t be so innovative currently stripping out # anchors from the link url’s when you upload a feed to Google base. Let’s hope this changes soon.

        Regards

        Phil G.
