Discounts in hidden product

Hi is there anyway to put a discount in a hidden product?

I've set a product up with a drop down menu. I want one of the 2 selections in the drop down menu to give a discount when selected, but not to give the discount when the other option is selected.

Any ideas?

This has been discussed before but a discount can only be applied to the main product and not an associated product. I've added your vote to the wish-list.
