    Complications with the site logo/banner

    Actinic 8.5.2

    Hi all,

    I wonder if anybody can help?

    I'm slowly moving forward with our online shop and have at last settled on a theme, layout and colour scheme. However I'm having monumental problems trying to add a logo/banner to the top of the pages.

    Link removed till completion (I hope)

    It almost works in Firefox, although I'm unable to centre the banner, but it's a catastrophe in I.E.

    Having searched the forums for help, spoken with an Actinic advisor and looked through the advanced user guide (the words logo and banner don't even appear from what I can see using the search function), I'm almost at my wits end.

    I'm sure it's not as complicated as I think, can anybody point me in the right direction?

    Please don't pay any notice to odd sized images (or lack of) or text that doesn't match the products, all that has yet to be completed.

    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Its a height issue in the header area and has been mentioned at least 50 times in the forum already. The solution is in the problem solvers thread, you need to adjust the height applied to a style in the stylesheet.

      easy fix and one which it's about time Actinic learned to offer as advice...god knows it gets asked often enough!!

      Look in your actinic.css for
      tech_page_header_content

      The height is set as 65px by default and is not big enough for your banner which is 170px high. Change it to 170px.

      Then find
      .tech_page_header_logo_container

      You have padding of 15px applied to the left hand side

      It currently reads:

      padding:0px 0px 0px 15px;

      Change this to padding: 0px;

      and it should line your banner up.

        This really needs addressing by Actinic as it appears far too often and will continue to occur as it is the first thing people do to make the site their own. The current fudge with CSS and tables in the header is a recipe for disaster.

          agreed.
          They need to come up with something that sorts this out.
          Perhaps a "how big is your header/banner/logo" (!!) setting somewhere?

          Meantime, maybe someone can brief support on how to advise on this because I actually had a CALL from someone who'd called support about the same problem and they were told to contact someone from the 'Actinic designers' list to see if they'd come across the problem before!!

            Tracey, a discount is yours if you decide period light fittings are for you!

            Many, many thanks.

            Lee, sometimes a novice can look through posts given previously but not pick up on the relevant information. I have truly spent a lot of time trying to sort this out before posting here, if only to try and avoid one of your digs. It seems I am now no more than a number in your "dig list"

                  Well you failed miserably it would appear according to yourself. You picked the second most popular problem ever mentioned on the forum, i told you what it was, i told you it was very common and i told you where to get the answer and that was a dig apparently. You'll have a breakdown if i ever do actually have a dig at you.

                    Very good Lee, I see you can't appreciate a little tongue in cheek humour, as it was intended. I could go on and on as others have, but as I appreciate the positive aspects you bring to this forum I wont. Oh and believe me, it will take more than you having a "real dig" to cause me to have a break down, water off a ducks back mate, especially on a Friday afternoon...call me on Monday morning before I've had a coffee though and it may be a different kettle of fish.

                        This made me laff more than the 'tongue in cheek' humour. I must be getting even more miserable in my old age. Have a nice weekend, i'll speak to you on Monday morning .

                          Nothing wrong with miserable, just direct it towards pets and family please. I look forward to your call on Monday, in fact I'll put off the coffee until after you've rung.
