    Limiting Number of Order lines

For whatever reason, I get errors on my site www.lowcostplumbingsupplies.co.uk, when ordering more than 35-40 lines. Is there anyway i can limit the number of order lines to this and when this limit is reached inform the customer for more items they must place a new order?

    thanks

I've heard of a site failing after 180 lines, but 40 seems a bit low, are you sure there is nothing like shipping rules causing this? What actually happens for it to fail, what's the message in other words?

I honestly wouldnt know the shipping isnt complicated that I know of its just a fixed fee of £5.95 over £100 is free. However I have messed with the shipping in the past but put it back. Anything I should look for? I get a page with this text when you click on the pay option to go to the payment page (before the order is transmitted) :

If they're the cart Perl scripts timing out or running out of memory, you could try talking to your server people and see if they can increase the pre-set limits that they've set up. It's the allocations for Perl scripts that they'll have to alter.

We've had several new clients move to us as their old hosts do not allow sufficient time/memory to perl scripts to cater for big baskets.
