Could someone explain how I can test that my cart/checkout/card acceptance is working correctly?

If you are collecting the cards manually for processing in-house use card number 4444333322221111 with any start, expiry security number

If using ProtX or PayPal etc they should have the option to test the procedure is working correctly.

If its a new site, you can upload it in test mode.
