    Contact Form

How do you use the contact form that was in version 8 in version 9.

My ISP threatened to take my site down due to the amount of spam mails they were getting from my site.

    Thanks

the way i under stood it there was no difference between 8 & 9, as for the spam, it probably has not even come from you site it is more likely to have been spoofed, im not saying it is not possible as it is, but one way to get around it for now is to change the script id's on your site and make sure the old scripts are removed.

Then if your malform script is being used then the new id's will stop this for a bit until they find the new one.

you should do some research on how reduce spam

here are some tipsto be starting with

1 do not have a mailto link on your website, never have your email address as a clickable link - if you have done this in the past then close that prefix anduse a new one

2 only accept email to designated prefixes, do not use catch all

      3 use SPF

4 use your hosts spam filters to block obvious spam

5 back this up with a pc spam filter - Mailwasher is good as it allows you to remove spamfrom the mail server before downloading

5 do not forward your email to a 3rd party before running any kind of spam filter

6 learn to trust spam filters - if you filter at a sensible level you will not lose genuine emails

there's more you can do but these are the most important

        Hi,

I did do my research into spam and found the best way to half the amount of spams was to use a contact form and not the mailto tag. I wonder why it has been introduced into the design wizard under version 9 ?

You need to enter an SMTP server into 'Web | Network Settings'. Check with your host what this should be. Once you do this, Actinic will automatically use a contact form rather than a mailto: link.
