    Add User Defined Fields

    Hi all,

I would like to add a few fields into the checkout process to obtain additional information from the customer. I have looked around a little and have found that there 3 General User Definable fields to allow you to obtain specific customer information.

Is there any way that I can add more of these General User Definable fields?

    Thanks

You may be able to recycle an unused variable for internal use. Don't forget the check out is a <form> so you may be able to add fields but passing these through to the order and viewable in Actinic is another issue altogether.

Norman Rouxel has some patches for sale that allow you to bring more than one value into the existing ones. It might be worth looking at his drillpine website.

I did one a week or two ago where a lot of custom info had to be collected at checkout. Some as text, some from drop-down choices. As surmised above it needed Template changes and patched Perl scripts. Plus some code to restore these values should the customer backtrack in the Cart or have omitted some mandatory fields.

However it's possible to skip the expense of customising the Invoice and Data Entry Reports by appending the captured data to the Other Info or Report Description fields.

I've nothing off-the-shelf for this so you'd need to contact me for a quote.
