Site optimisation section list

I have just run a scan on my site home page. The file size is 3.1Mb and the section list is a whopping 1.9Mb (nearly 60% of the entire file).

Now I do have to admit there are 4,000 products installed, all with their own respective section.

Any suggestions on how I can reduce this file size without having to cut down on the number of products?

Note: I have used a section for each product to save having to use extended pages; and to improve the SEO (each product now has its own meta tags).
