    Actinic 9 Business +

    Hi all,
To those in the know... we have just upgraded Actinic 9 Business + with a extra user licence so that 2 PCs can process orders and/or update the catalogue content.

We have had a fairly smooth uprade from 7 to 9 with a couple of issues that I'm currently trying to sort, however...

My main concern is the 'satelite' PCs performance. Today is the first full day of use and we have literally had a nightmare in terms of the number of times we have had to reboot the secondary PC due to it simply 'hanging' in Actinic. I'm going to monitor the situation tomorrow so that I can be more precise but it mainly seems to be when when the secondary PC is attempting to alter/add new products.

I realise that this might be a network issue so I just would like to ask how other people are finding the linking. Can anyone pehaps provide any insight?

    Thanks in advance...

    Business 9+

    Hi

We have a very similar set up to yourselves and the same hang/crash problems. After some 45mins hanging on the phone I did get through to support. I have to say that other than checking the Actinic Synchronization Server service was running that was all they could do. I have emailed dump logs generated after the event but as yet no reply.

The main key to getting the fastest multi user system is in the network, so check that ALL of your machines are all atleast running at 100mbits p/s, i.e. you do not have some machine or device on your network which is slowing it all down to its 10mbit speed and check your network cables with continuity testers to ensure you are getting best throughput on them.

Under MU Access we have had end users with 10 users connected at any one time and on the sql version, 15 at a time, but some cleaning up of the network and the router was required to achieve best throughput.

Just a suggestion as a starter for 10.

          Thanks for the reply...

After much messing about we finally got a fairly speed configuration... the problem we no have are frequent failures to connect to the Sync Server. Even the machine on which the Sync server is running frequently fails to connect.

Same here on the updated 9.01 version. I had to switch back to stand alone version just to get a successful upload.
