Another "Holy Grail" patch: Allow customers to sort by Price, Name, etc

UPDATE:

I've found some issues regarding the patch not working reliably until all of the page has loaded fully. This could be a real pain as by its very nature it could be used on pages with lots of images. The ideal scenario is to activate it after the DOM has loaded but while ancilliary images etc are still loading.

It will take considerable work to do this and the patch won't look the same afterwards, so it's best to pull it in the meantime.

If I can reliably solve these issues I'll add it to my set of paid-for add-ons. I'll add in a load of confguration options (different sets of buttons / links / drop-downs), caching of the customers preference, etc.

If the buttons appear on each product you've put some code in the wrong place. You've missed the "Click here to edit list layout settings" bit.

Let me know the URL so I can take a peek.

PS. I've just added in reverse alphabetic. May be worth revisiting the code above.

I would rename the buttons I think if I were going to use it.

I've added some optional code to my original post to let you use text links (or you could use images) instead of buttons.
