Separating parent and child menus

Is it possible to have a top tier of navigation in one place, and for the child levels to appear in a separate place ? For example, If I click on a top level menu item, the sub levels will appear elsewhere giving the appearance of a context sensitive menu. Look at www.trio-europe.com for an example
