    Drag and Drop Problem

Hi. Is anyone else experiencing problems with dragging/dropping sections, also cutting and pasting? We have just upgraded to v9 Multi-user and the drag and drop no longer appears to work (nothing happens). Cut-and-paste works occasionally but more often than not Actinic hangs after I have 'Cut' and then crashes after 5 minutes or so. When I restart Actinic it's then lost the sections and products I cut. Very frustrating! Help please

We have two sites and it is the same on both.

    Hi,

Drag and drop was removed from Business Plus Multi User as it causes problems in the database when there is more than one content editor. The cut and paste function should work though. Are you moving sections or just products? How many products are you moving or are in the sections that you are moving at once? Does the software produce a '.dmp' file when it crashes (you should find it in the installation folder)? If so then I suggest you register a query with support and let them have the dmp files to look into what is causing the problem.

Thanks Tracey, that would explain why drag and drop doesn't work :-)
Cut and paste works occasionally(!) I am moving sections which include products and fragments - just one or two in each section.
I am having some other problems as well - being unable to enter data into custom variable fields - and repeated crashes with repeated server synchronization errors, so we are going to reinstall actinic on a separate drive and see if that sorts the problems.

and repeated crashes with repeated server synchronization errors,
What operating system is on the pc that the sync server is on? There is another customer who was getting problems with it on a Vista machine and has moved it onto an XP machine and that seems to have stopped the crashing. I am going to look into this but would be interested if your issue is due to the operating system too.

            Hi Lisa,

Can you follow the suggestions in this thread regarding the synchronization server crashes.

We will probably need to get a snapshot from you regarding the 'cut and paste' issue so could you raise a support ticket via the link in my signature or call in if you have a contract.

having upgraded to multi user I know find i don't get full functionality as i was told i would by sales.
I find i now have to log out the second user to be able to move sections/subsections and products around when reorganising the list.

the work around of copying and pasting is known to cause data loss,
what is the correct way to reorganise subsections and products with out data loss or logging out of multi user.

We are still having this problem too.

Basically you cannot use drag and drop with more than one user.

The suggested method of cut and paste is unsatisfactory because

                1) the more products and sections you have, the longer it takes - I have waited over half an hour

                2) if Actinic crashes in the middle of it - and the more products/sections you are trying to move, the more likely this is - you have lost your data completely. This has happened to me a few times!

I resort to logging everyone else off, or cutting and pasting one section/product at a time, or taking a snapshot before attempting a big cut and paste, but this is far from ideal.
