Moving from one site to another

    Hi,

I've had this problem on Actinic V7 and V8 running on XP and Vista.

On Actinic multi-sites if I move from one site to another it sometimes minimises Actinic to the bottom desktop menu bar and I can't open up Actinic by click on the menu bar.

    Anyone had this problem?
    Regards,

    Les

I'm still having this problem. If anyone can only that would be great!

I've got a multi-site license of Actinic 8. When I move from one site to another I simply click from the top menu on Actinic 'File + Sites + Select Site Name + Activate'. Actinic then moves from one site to another.

But quite offten it minimise to the bottom bar on XP and I can't seem to re-open it by clicking on the icon on the bar, does that make sense?

I have to get Windows Task Manager open and switch to Actinic to re-open it.
      Regards,

      Les

        Hi Les,

If you go to 'Housekeeping | Backups | Shutdown Backup Options' and switch it to 'Never' do you then still get the problem?

          Hi Tracey,

I've set the 'Shutdown Backup Options' to 'Never' on all my sites. It seems to be working at the moment from moving from one site to another.

I'll do more testing today and over the weekend and let you know on Monday.

If this is a fix that is great, but it does mean I can't backup the Database on each site, like I'm in the habbit of doing.
          Regards,

          Les

v8 often 'closes' when switching sites with auto backup set. Setting to Never does stop this. You will need to manage your backups manually though.

              OK that's fine with me.

I'm glad I posted here as I've had this problem since V7 and I just thought it was me. The fix is great, as Actinic closing when changing sites was a real pain in the bum!

I backup the Actinic site folder each night as well, so the auto backup really isn't needed anyway, plus changing from site to site is loads faster as Actinic isn't backing up the database.
              Regards,

              Les

                Hi Tracey,

I've done the above fix and that's worked OK until today, the same problem is back, any more ideas or fixes for this problem?
                Regards,

Are you now working on a different site perhaps? The options needs changing for each site.

                      Hi Les,

Have you re-imported any snapshots into your software? It may be possible that you have brought some problems back into the registry to do with the backups.

                      Can you try the following:

                      - close Actinic
                      - go to 'Start | Run' and type 'regedit' in the 'open' field
                      - click 'OK' to open the registry editor
                      - take a backup of your registry
                      - delete the following 4 keys

                      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Actinic\Catalog8\Sites\<sitename>\DBBackup
                      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Actinic\Catalog8\Sites\<sitename>\DBBackup
                      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic\Catalog8\Sites\<sitename>\DBBackup
                      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic\Catalog8\Sites\<sitename>\DBBackup

This should reset the backup options. You may also want to check that the 'Shutdown backup options' are definitely set to 'never' for each site (especially if you have re-imported a backup).

Is this on a single PC or on a networked PC

The reason I ask is that I have found that on the networkwed PC's other than my master PC, sometimes changes do not stay in place unless I log in as Administrator and make the changes on the problem PC

Always thought it was finger trouble by my staff, but not 100% proven
