conditional layouts in overall page layout

    Hi,

I've written an outer layout with left & right hand sidebars. I don't want the rh sidebar to appear on certain pages. Is it possible to put a condition around the sidebar to only include it for certain pages e.g. product and section pages?

The only way I can think of doing this is to have 2 outer layouts one of which doesn't have the rh sidebar. But then I have 2 layouts to maintain.

One option is to create a user defined variable in the library - scope this to be used at section / brochure level and set to true / false. You can then use a block if to test the state of the variable.

Setting the use parent to the majority (true to show) and then simply set to false in the sections you want to hide

      Thanks Jonty,

That worked perfectly. First time I've created a variable too. I understand a few more of the options now!
