    True cost of Business Plus

I've just been reading up on Business plus.
    I see the price is 1295+vat *
The sight of a * nearly always means... you aint getting what you thought you'd get !!!!

Simultaneous product catalogue updating on multiple networked PCs *

Unlimited multiple site building and management from a single licence *

Presumably the 1295 cost is 1 person being able to update and 1 website licenced is it ?

What are the costs of additional licences ?

    Thanks
    W

The only additional costs are for additional users not for additional sites. Check with sales for the additional user costs.

      Hi Wendy,

I did see something on the Actinic website that may have answered your question but it seems to have dissapeared, looks like a site overhaul is in progress !

Business Plus allows unlimited websites to be licensed. The extra costs appear to come in when you add network users and I saw a price of £300 per user.

I would check with sales direct to confirm costs.

The way it looks is that it's £1,249.00 +VAT, plus £450 for optional Cover, looks like they've dropped the additional users charge - if I was a first-time user, I wouldn't pay any more than what's advertised

It's not quite as black and white as that - the cost of cover reduces over time with a loyalty discount, plus cover gives you free upgrades. Many people on this forum take the cover for the latter reason alone (ourselves included). We are running V9 Business Plus and we haven't paid anything for Actinic software since (I think) V6 - I think that's a very fair system. Certainly if you were completely new to Actinic and V9 was your first version, then it would be £1,249.00 +VAT, plus £450 pa for cover, but that would probably be the last time you actually paid for software.

Business Plus is also multi-site, so we think it's good value. Multi-user licences are extra - these are for sites which are accessible from more than one PC. This is a huge plus for us, and something which we haven't really been able to consider up until now. I would consider anything under £500 for one of these licences to be good value. If they have dropped the charge for extra licences I will have an extra pint tonight, but I doubt it. They hadn't when I phoned two days ago.

Interestingly the Actinic website no longer makes any mention of any additional costs for multiuser clients for Business Plus.

Yes - I had a quick look before posting and I did notice that, but I'm not getting too excited just yet.

There is a little asterisk against some of the detailed points referring to clients so I imagine the small print is missing.

i think it has been tweaked today, i mentioned it was not working and bruce held his hand up.

but i was curious about the user license, but am sure that Chris has recently brought another license, even though his new girl polished her nails all day whilst waiting for it

A mention, that makes for a great day

Yup it cost me about £280 for the licence inc vat (not 100% sure about total cost so maybe a couple of quid out) this was based on a 20% discount for being a long term support user.

No not Beta, Just the discount for each year you have support, I think it works for all items so if you have the basic package and support for a few years then support fee reduces after a while and I think if you upgrade to a higher package you also get a slight reduction

Thats my understanding and it's a nice touch to get a little off as a sign of you supporting them as well as them supporting us
