I have experienced this on a single site coming through various incarnations of v8 and still into v9. The only solution I have found is to manually copy the tables over in Access.

If you have can open the table in access you can just shorten the index name and that will resolve the problem.

If will depend on the error message, the table name is at the beginning of the index name usually.
