    Missing extended info pages

I cannot see any threads with this error, so here goes!

Some of my extended info pages are not working. They are giving a 404 error on the live site. The site is www.euro-yo.com. An example of the non-working popup is http://www.euro-yo.com/acatalog/Fireball.html

I have tried reloading and refreshing the site several times, plus compacting the site but it makes no difference.

Looking at the server, the html files for the broken popup pages are missing from the acatalog directory. Looking in my local directories (Actinic v8\Sites\Euro-Yo\PreviewHTML and Actinic v8\Sites\Euro-Yo\SiteHTML) they are present. So they do not appear to be being uploaded.

A strange thing is that if I rename a faulty popup, the new html file does not get created in local directory So maybe it is not an upload issue, but that the html files are not being generated by Actinic?

I am using customised layouts but many identical layouts work fine.

    All ideas most welcome!
    Pete

Not sure if this will point you in the right direction, but...

The top 3 products on that page (http://www.euro-yo.com/acatalog/Fireball.html) point to 'info_ShortDescription.html':

    http://www.euro-yo.com/acatalog/info_Fireball_xx.html
    http://www.euro-yo.com/acatalog/info...yellow_SO.html
    http://www.euro-yo.com/acatalog/info...l_blue_SO.html

but the 4th one points to 'info_ProductReference.html':

    http://www.euro-yo.com/acatalog/info_945.html

    and that 4th one works!

I'm guessing there is a small inconsistency in your coding somewhere...

Thanks - I will look at that asap. And probably kick myself for missing it

Sadly that was not the answer. The fifth product has the 'info_ProductReference.html' format and does not work

When Actinic builds a site, does it write the html files to the local SiteHTML directory? Does it do this each time it refreshes the site? Is there a way to force Actinic to rebuild and upload all the html pages?

The reason I ask is because the html files that are missing on the live site are present in the local SiteHTML directory. Are these files then uploaded to the live site or does Actinic create and upload these 'on the fly' as it refreshes a site?

        Thanks in advance!

          Solved

I found the problem - at some point I had deleted a couple of crucial lines of code in my layout. The absence of these meant the extended info html page was not being generated. But if the extended info page already existed (which would have been generated previously when I was using a different layout) then the layout would appear to be working fine (IYSWIM!). Code reinstated, problem fixed.

Must just recommend the Context freeware which has a neat compare facility for comparing text files. Top tool!
