adding new fields to the checkout

Is there any way of adding new fields in a checkout page so that the information entered will be sent to the customer?

Eg, after delivery address, can we have customer codes entered and emailed back to the customer (the customer in this case is a company & the codes are for their billing dept)?

Hi,

Go to 'Design | Text' and click on the 'Go To' button. Enter 1 in the 'Phase' field and 16 in the 'ID' field and click 'OK'. This will take you to the 'user defined field for the 'Delivery Address' page. Change the prompt in the 'Current Value' field and tick the box under the 'Show' column. This field is automatically included in the email that is sent to the customer when they place an order.
