    Google not showing any pages

Hi, I must be doing something wrong. When you put the name of my website in google it comes up but with no linked pages and none of my other pages are showing. I have written all the stuff in the metatags.
Any ideas - if you put 'threads and patches' in google i come up at the top so easy to find if you knw my name! Not much use otherwise.
    Any help appreciated

      Sorry - More Detail

      site - www.threadsandpatches.co.uk

Age - changed domain name approx 9 months ago. prior it was still threadsandpatches.co.uk but then linked to the hosting by the name tnphosting.co.uk (As you can see don't really know what I am talking about but it used to work a bit! complete techno dummy) Site has been up totally approx 6 years now. Used Actinic for 3 years i think.

      Hope that helps

Nine months is quite a short time in Google land.

Have you been submitting site maps via Google Webmaster Tools?

Check out via GWT how Google sees your site.

Your robots.txt file is blocking your site.

          Currently:
          User-agent: *
          Disallow: /

Change it to this (or whatever arrangement you want - or just delete it if you want all your site indexed):
          User-agent: *
          Disallow:

In a nutshell for you CS...neither the big G nor any other bot can get in...open the door and results may follow soon.

Your site should be well indexed by now (9 months is plenty of time for indexing IMHO) so change the bot file and report back in 10-14 days please.

as Duncan says your robots file is effectively saying to google ignore my site. I would delete it completely as they are dangerous things in the wrong hands. If you were using a redirect prior to moving then that will not have helped and you will effectively lost the last 6 years of existence on the web. Make sure your new setup does not use any redirects - I'm not at a of at the moment so I cannot see.

Work on getting back links from related sites to increase your link popularity

Thank You Guys, but what do I do?

OK, now I reveal my complete lack of techno ability. How do I find the robots.txt file? I tried doing a search but the little dog came up with nothing.

Also am I completely Ok to delete it all together, I really don't need it at all?

I need to be walked through this by someone sympathetic to a not so bright person!

                Thanks again, in anticipation

Use an FTP client to look at the root of your site and you will find a file called robots.txt.
This is the file you should delete.

You are safe to delete it - if you are not sure if you need it then you can be 99% sure you don't.

What is an FTP Client and do I have to download it?

I looked it up on Google, but honestly to those of us uninitiated in cyberspeak it might as well be arabic.

If the robot.txt file is sitting on my website can I not delete it through actinic?

This prob sounds laughable to you but honestly don't know what to do next, but very grateful for all the input

You can use internet explorer ... in the address bar instead of http:// enter ftp:// and your web address... you enter your user name and password and you are connected to the server.

                        Thank You!

Found the offending file and deleted it, now just have to wait and see what that does.
Thank you to everyone who helped, I am constantly amazed by the generosity of spirit I find on this site, wish I knew something I could offer in return!
                        So Thanks

googlebot may be a while coming because every time it has called in the past you have told it to go away so add a link to your website into your forum signature. This will help as g vista here often and will jump across to your site faster.

Looking at the wayback machine (http://web.archive.org/web) you may have had a problem since around August last year.
