I've read numerous threads on email issues. I have tried the suggestions but am still getting the 'smtp authentication not supported by this server' error message. I am using our own email provider which uses smtp server: gshvc.org. I have that in network settings. I have tried putting localhost as well. I read everywhere to untick the authentication option but don't have this option in my network settings. I am using v8. I have tried it with and without username and password. Can someone spell it out for me? I will be forever grateful as this is my last issue before announcing we are live and ready to go.

need to know your host, as solutions sometimes depend on it.

tick/untick authentication - this is directly above username/password in network settings

'smtp authentication not supported by this server'

this means you should not have it ticked - untick it and re-upload

does SMTP work in outlook?

I don't have that authentication option. I did a print screen and attached it for you to see. I have:

SMTP Server:
_ username and password required?
username:
password:

That is it.

I have sent email to that username via Outlook and I have received email from that username.

Hi Cindy,

I would have thought that the smtp server would have an address along the more usual lines of: smtp.gshvc.org or possibly mail.gshvc.org. Can you double check you have the full details?

I have checked with our techs and they say it is only gshvc.org. This is what is in Outlook and it emails successfully.

You do but it's labelled "Username and Password Required". Try unchecking that.
