    Upload Progress Indicator

Just uploading a large v9 site and the progress bar at "sending catalog files" got to the 50% complete point then went back to zero whilst still uploading the pages starting with "E" and still a long way to go looking at the SiteHTML folder.

    Anyone else seen this?

Yeah all the time on large sites, in V8 i've seen it mainly. Its almost as though halfway through an uplaod it decides that the upload bar is just for the pages beginning with a certain letter and once that letter is finished, the bar starts again. The progress bar tells you nothing in fact IME, you need to look at the first letter of the page names to know whereabouts you are.

Never normally watch it but this v9 has me watching every move it makes. Surely it knows how many files it has collated for upload and can do some basic maths with the progress bar?

Not in my experience, it gets completely lost and illustrates nothing on large sites. It seems to be triggered by a large majority of the page names starting with one particular letter, but I couldn't say for sure. It's another of those things you just learn to ignore.

Much like the red error warning when you first open some sites and then disappears when change section and back again

I've seen this as well, I don't think it's anything to worry about but it is a little odd.

It is funny how you just learn to live with things that are not right, i guess we all do the same in our normal non-actinic lives. We should have a job-swap week, we could see what it's like to be an actinic developer and the associated issues and they could see what its like for us on the frontline. We used to do a similar thing at the RAC, so you could all gain a better understanding of the things involved across the process.

Yep - it all goes towards making Actinic the cuddly, lovable piece of software we all adore so much.

The RAC is not solely made up of grease monkeys taking a can of petrol to dippy sheilas you know.

True - it takes jump leads to dippy Sheilas as well

I've never understood how a sheila can carry 14 bags of shopping from the NEXT sale, yet she cannot undo a wheelnut or jack a car up. All about desire I guess.

No point trying when you can call out the monkeys to do it for you

Anyway, back to the point - it happened in V8 as well. I've always just ignored it (The upload bar that is, not Dippy Sheilas)
