    Actinic Failure to load

    Hi,
Actinic is set up to open as I power up computer - it is stuck and is failing to load.

I have read a previous forum entry and the options seem to be

    1. download updated versions - but this needs a back up first how when i cannot get into the system?

    2. Uninstall Actinic and re load - if i haven't got a recent back up I look stuffed

    3. Get into the database and do something in Access - not sure I understand what.

I have a couple of urgent orders sitting on the system, is there any way i can access the payment details so I can despatch them? I promised despatch today!

if you use a PSP you should be able to dispatch using this info - although you might have to phone the customer to ask what they ordered - but you will have shipping address, phone no, how much they paid.

to kill actinic on opening you could try ctrl/alt/delete and kill it it task manager then if you have cover call actinic support to' help with the reason why it wont start up correctly

      Thanks Jo,

we do the card processing here, so download from the SSL. So we need to put the order through and get authorisation prior to despatch. the orders are already downloaded but without opening actinic we can't see them.
I don't have paid support, I have emailed the support team though, but they usually take approx 24 hours and I need a faster fix!

if you have MS Access you can open the DB and get the details out - you'll need to look at the "Order", "OrderDetail" and "Person" tables - you should be able to get all the info you need to pick and despatch the order - not sure about payment details though - we use a PSP so don't have them stored...

I would expect the payment details to be stored in the PaymentHistory table.

            Thank you everyone,

it suddenly sorted itself without me doing anything, I had tried several times, rebooting computer etc, and left it to think about it for approx an hour. then gave up and shut it down, rebooted to do something else and it opened up! Now have learned lesson, will create snapshots regularly!

Thanks to all, very useful information, stored away ready for future disasters!

also change actinic not to open on bootup. This will allow you to get to the machine before actinic loads in future

Start -> Run -> type in msconfig -> OK -> Startup tab -> untick the box next to Actinic -> exit
