    Parallels help

Ive installed parallels and now when I install V9 I get these errors
    http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...c/Picture1.png
    http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...c/Picture2.png
    http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...c/Picture3.png

    Any ideas
If I go into the XP drive I can see AtinicV9 but it wont open and if I go in to Windows/start menu/Actinic V9 folder is empty

The CD loads fine on my old PC/laptop but I want to move it over to new AppleMac

I don't know anything about Paralells but how about using VMWare instead.

Is VMWare easier to use, as Ive found parallels support rubbish/non existent and Apple will refund.

hi not sure on that problem but ive run v8 in bootcamp parallels and now i use vmware fusion

i created my bootcamp partition then used that for my vmware installation
suposed to be more stable etc and you get a true windows partition formatted correctly

        hope it helps

but my advice is vmware fusion

Well Actinic have had my screen shots for 4 days and not one call to tell me why the problem was caused.
But by playing around I have now got it working, but incredibly slow, it takes approx 15 seconds to make a change, and one site takes 90 mins to backup.
          Is there anyone using Parallels?
Any ideas as to why so slow.
It also wont email customers of order receipt or payment or order shipped?

If you talk to the tech guys in the apple store they dont recommend parallels - VMWare is your best bet

I dont think you will get any joy from actinic as actinic is not mac compatible so running it on one is on your own head.

Im going back there, probably tonight and will take it back.

It was the Apple store that recommended it to me!!

Will VM ware allow me to run both systems at same time.
I was tempted with bootcamp but I can then only use it for my Actinic and cant access emails or other program at same time, Apple described it as one or other system and keep switching.
I just want whats easiest so can access all software when needed at same times.
I can do graphics in Apple while adding to Actinic

Or should I just get another PC

              Do VMWare offer phone support?

I'll have a good google when I get back in

I spoke to Apple shop and they will refund, but the girl in the shop says she always recommend Parallels and has it working fine on hers, may well ask them to get it going.

I have been looking in the start menu and it shows Actinic as empty, but it is there in the C drive.
If I go control panel add and remove it show Three Actinic in there as it should, but all the 3 have an identical amount of MG used this should be different?
Actinic payment Service proviers component V9 has 2292 MB
Actinic shared ssl service providers component v9 ha 2292 MB
                Actinic v9 has 2292 MB

could this be why its running so slow, its almost 9GB of program, or does it not work like that?

not sure on your setup exactly

but i usedbootcamp to setup a true ntfs partition,
i actually partitioned it in half
then used vmware fusion to run Xp pro and installed actinic on that partition runs fine

Yay!!!!!!! a lot of messing but (for me anyway) now have Actinic running at the correct speed in parallels and with file sharing.
Now saves my 700mb site in 10-15 mins instead of 2 hours

But I can download orders but cant send emails confirmations via Actinic nor can I upload any updates or refresh
If send email I get "the connection with the server was reset"
and if Im uploading I get to the section uploading files then " command failed"

Any ideas why I can access internet via internet explorer, or Safari, I can mail using Apple mail but Actinic cant communicate with my site??

One of the errors I was getting after install was missing a DL file.
Anyone know what a MSVCR71.dl file is
is it microsoft, parallels or Actinic?

Ok so have found out about the missing DLL file and believe Ive repaired that now.
But I still cant upload or send confirmation emails??

sorry havent got it installed anymore

maybe thats the reason i took it off
if i get chance ill try it again and report back

i know it doesnt help but as i have said vmware performs without fault find a trial copy

if i install VMWare, can I then import XP and al programs installed on XP or should I remove XP, parallels and all and start with a fresh install?

VMWare is independant - I can't expect you can import your programs as they will need installing on the OS in VMWare.

What you can do (on windows - I expect it's the same on a Mac) is use the free VMWare Converter to create a VMWare image from a running XP machine, you can then play that back with the free VMWare Player. Windows would need to be activated again of course in the virtual machine.
