Site prompts download on any link...

I've just uploaded the default site that ships with (v.8) to test our server settings.

hosted on 1and1.co.uk (I've noticed quite a few threads here about this :/ )

(Linux, Business Pro)

When I click on a link using Firefox and Safari it forces a downloads.

However, on a Windows computer using IE6 it seems to work fine.

I've done nothing at all to the site save the web setting wizards just to make sure the shop functions properly etc

I've done a search but can't find anything pertaining to this problem anywhere...

Got any clues? it's the first time i've ever had to use this programme and I can see it becoming the bane of my existence.

This is getting frustrating now...I've tried to get hold of actinic directly who are about as helpful as a bag of old rope.

There's nothing in any documentation and 1and1 say they can't see anything wrong at their end.

Probably related to Mime types. Try uploading a very simple page with a link on it - if it has the same problem then contact 1and1 again as this sounds like a server setup issue.

A number of sites are used on the server and with no issues, just the actinic generated one :/

Just had a look in web sniffer...

From the site code:

From the Sniffer results:

it's definitely the server.

the page is written correctly, but the server is not serving it correctly.

It may be specific to the 'acatalog' folder on the server, as the home page serves correctly...

Yeah I think we've established it was the server, just spent an hour on the phone to 1and1 who blame a firefox
