Advanced user guide and introducing the "email a friend" feature

I'm a complete beginner with Actinic Business v9.

I have thumbed through the advanced user guide - just really to give me an idea of what can be done. I have seen that there is a "email a friend" feature with all the necessary code displayed. I'm guessing that this should be a simple cut and paste exercise of the code from the user guide into Actinic.

Can somebody tell me where I need to be pasting this code into Actinic and also provide me with step by step instructions on how to get to the correct screen/window where the code needs to be pasted .....remember I'm a complete beginner

    regards

Remember if you bought your software within the last 30 days you get free telephone support from actinic for stuff like this

Yes I am aware of this but the support isn't available at 10:30 at night which was when i'd given up trying to solve this problem and thought that the community might be able to help.
Unfortunately I'm often too busy during the day to get round to even calling the support number.

Incidentally, I still haven't found out how to solve this query. I'm sure it is very straight forward.................

Looking forward to making some progress with Actinic

copy the code from the aug. Open the design tab - find the place in the inner layout - usually the product layout at the bottom and paste the code in

where you place it is totally up to you, but what I would suggest is to find the location in your layout, use the up and down arrows at the bottom of the code window to navigate through. you can also click on the "WYSIWYG" editor and use the arrows from there (i.e. click on one price, click up a couple of times and select the whole price layout etc!)

oh, nad thanks for reminding me about the tell a friend function - i forgot I wanted to use that!!

Thanks guys, I've managed to include it into the product page. Now along the same theme, time for my next question.
Is it possible to have this automatically display on all new products - i.e. is there a template that I can add it to? I've tried following the help instructions about the "library" files but didn't seem to have any luck.

It'd be nice to have have this automatically appear on every product ........
            thanks

If you have put it in your product layout correctly, it will show on each product as that is what a product template (layout) is for. If you are not getting that, then you've put it in the wrong place. Before you dive in any further, take a few minutes to read up and understand how actinic works and see how a series of templates build the different parts of your store. If you put something into your product layout, each product using that layout will get that item.

Thanks Lee, I understand the concept of templates, but where/how do I pasted the "email a friend" code into my product layout.

                Thanks

ok it sounds as if you have done it for products but now you want to do it for "New Products"

Open the design view with New products highlighted in the content tree, you should now be in the "New Products" layout rather than the products layout. Check the tab at the bottom of the page to see what layout you are editting.

ie look for the layout that controls new products this is a different layout to products layout
