    You have added the code twice into your head area and named the file differently for both attempts. Decide which one you are using and remove the other . Use the full www version of your URL too.

      I can only see one version of the code now so hopefully that's sorted. And I've now using the full www of my URL.

        It's there, my favicon is there!!
        Thank you all who gave me all your experience and advice to beat the favicon confusion that befuddled my brain.

          FAVICON problems

          hello there.. been reading these posts and I think Im doing everything perfectly.. but I still cant get a favicon to work on my site

          Ok.. here are some details..

          I have FTP it to my main directory
          http://www.fogeyunlimited.co.uk/acatalog/favicon.ico
          its on fasthosts..

          In Actinic V8 I have gone to my main page..
          which in the design tab is at the very top...
          and here is the code at the top of the page...

          i have added the favicon to my actinic additional files.

          and i cant think of anything else that i should do..

              Works for me too in FF.
              Older versions of IE were a bit finicky in showing favicons IIRC.
              What browser are you using to check it?
