    Hi Tracey

I now have a module which can be added to the database which runs and goes through all selectors resetting them. However, thanks for letting me know which selectors are causing the issue. I can see no correlation on the affected selectors to the areas in which i have or do work, so it does not seem related to me specifically.

Hopefully they get to the bottom of this as it's been a real showstopper until i got this module. I have reverted back to using V8, even for V9 builds at the moment.

    Cheers

      Hi Tracey,

As this flaw has not been fixed in 9.0.3, I wondered what you can tell me if you guys 'n' girls have identified what the issue is, what happens, why it happens, etc?

As support know - but have never got back to me - all the issues I've had with v9 have been caused by layout selectors going crazy. Just today I noticed on the live site that the meta tags were all missing - the meta tag selector had emptied its values - this selector was perfect a few weeks ago so something must have happened to cause this. It's not the first time a selector has screwed up without being touched.

I had no issues at all with Actinic prior to importing a design snapshot - the design snapshot has well and truly killed our database as it is forever experiencing new problems on an almost daily basis. We had no major issues with using Actinic for around 4 or 5 years until the Design snapshot was used, now using Actinic's a constant struggle.

IMHO it'd be a stupid step to renew Cover simply because it's paying money to play "pass the buck". It's completely self-defeating and infuriating.

Paying over a grand plus annual cover fees feels like a slap in the face when the most obvious issues which effect everyone using Actinic are not being addressed, instead, new features are being added which only have an effect on a minority of users, ie. Actinic Payments.

Back to waste another couple of hours resetting selectors

      Regards,
      Grant

        Hi Grant,

The issue that I was referring to in my previous post where the values for the selectors are getting the incorrect IDs in the database has been fixed for 9.0.4.

Nice one Tracey, thanks for the update. Have Actinic scheduled in an approximate release date for 9.0.4?

Lee, you did read that Grant was asking about 9.0.4 and not V10, didn't you?

Oh well, at least that clears it up - I'm happy to wait til next year for a sleek checkout process in v10 (fingers crossed!).

Lee, you mentioned in your last post of August 08 that you had obtained a module which resets the selectors. Was this obtained from support, a third party or self-developed? Sounds like the kind of thing that needs to be included in Actinic if the Design Snapshot feature isn't being pulled.

It was provided by support Grant, it comes with no guarantees from them though, it was a use it and we think it not upset anything type affair. It seemed ok to be fair, I didn't see any issues.

Sounds a fair deal to me - there's no guarantee that sitting for a couple of hours resetting selectors will fix anything so I'm just as well to let a piece of software run and do the job for me.

I've created all the custom vars in a clean site using a standard Actinic theme/data which has never had any snapshots imported in and I've never had a problem with it - thus, it can surely only be the design snapshot corrupting/removing selector values.

Off to call support, maybe they can help identify the selector which is going to break next

                      Cheers,
                      Grant

                        Hi,

I've been told that we are hoping to release it around mid-Mayish, but the usual caveats apply.

If you would like to help beta test 9.0.4 then please email v9.beta@actinic.co.uk to take part.

Thanks Tracey, sounds a worthwhile experience to enroll for. Always glad to hear about developments at the towers

                            This isn't fixed

This isn't fixed - a client's v9 site has had all it's permutations layouts changed by a design snapshot - I won't be using it again!!!

The Web's just settling in. We got the tech, now let's put up something that matters.

Was the design snapshot taken from a 9.0.4 site into another 9.0.4 site?
