    Snapshot Error when Exporting

I'm aware Snapshot Export Errors have been covered before, but I can't find any V9 Specific Threads, so I was wondering if anyone else had seen the problem in Catalog 9.02?

I've tried allsorts (even the liquorice kind) to solve the problem already:
    • Compacting Databases
    • Script ID Change
    • Website Refresh
    • Purge

It Exports the beginings on a Snapshot (what I mean is the file is on my desktop with the correct name), but not one that I can Import.
Actinic Crashes before completing the Export and the standard (Not Responding) appears at the top of the Window. This is followed by the Microsoft "Send Error Report" window.

Support have had my Site Folder for over a week and are still struggling to find out where the problem lies.

In addition: I'm running two sites, but the other (original) site Exports without any problem...

    Any ideas?

I have seen this on a site that had been upgraded (products exported and imported again v7 to 8 to 9) a short time ago - support had a look and managed to create a repair script for me. Contact support and let them test your snapshot.

I had a similar problem with an V8 to 9 upgraded site too.
Turned out to be a corrupt component/permutation which I ended up having to track down and re-do the affected product (it was manifesting itself with crashes on preview too)
Is it an upgraded site? Have you noticed if anything else causes a crash?

Similar experience here - no way to track it back so had to reinstate an old ACD as Actinic could not resolve (actually they still have it from 14 months back and have not bothered replying so guess they are unable to sort!!)

The site was built from scratch in V9, but the original Install was V8. Interesting to hear about previous upgrade problems.

I haven't noticed any crashes outside the Export, but I'll keep an eye out.

Hopefully support will get in touch with a positive outcome. The worrying thing anout it all, is that it's a really young site. I've been doing an awful lot of work on it for my clients since the last succesful Snapshot. They'll be quite a few long nights if anything goes t""ts up!

I've had a look at the Variables and Layouts that I've created, but it hasn't rectified the problem.

Also, I had successfully exported since their creation, but thanks for trying to help.

I think it's going to be a process of elimination boiling down to what you did immediately before it stopped working.
If it's going to be that difficult to pinpoint, then I would expect you'll have to rollback to your last successful one and reimplement changes since, step by step, snapshotting regularly and not carrying on when they stop working.

Have you copied/pasted and then editted any products with permutations? I've found V9 doesn't like that too much.
I think you're going to have to retrace your steps unless support can actually find the problem in the database itself (which, after over a week, seems unlikely)

Support have still not found a solution to this, and although everything is pointing towards me reverting to an earlier sanpshot and re-doing an awaful lot, I felt I must try a few more things first.

I re-installed Actinic in a vain attempt to solve the problem, but as my other site is performing Snapshots without any problems, I was confident a re-install wasn't going to help. I was proved correct

I then thought I'd try opening the site in V8, not really knowing what to expect, I had hoped it might highlight an error, or some missing data, hell I've nothing to loose

I copied the Site 1 folder from V9 and into V8 and then opened actinic and received the following message:

There was a problem with the database

                    Operation: Opening the [TaxRules] table

The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find the input table or query 'TaxRules'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly.

Action: Contact your Actinic reseller or Actinic Support as appropriate
Further investigations in Access have confimred that there is no "TaxRules" Table within the ActinicCatalog Database.

My question now is... Does/should a V9 Site have a TaxRules Table or has it's contents been moved into othet Tax Tables in this latest Version of Actinic, or is my database missing something which is causing the problem?

                    Thanks in advance,

                    Rich

you can't import a V9 site into V8. Mostly because there was a complete change in the way tax is handled in V9, hence your error. It won't work.

tbh, the time you've taken to 'fix' it so far, you could have reverted and re-done your changes...I still think it's the best option really.

I didn't think you could, but it was a last ditch attempt in pointing me in the right direction for the scoping out the error.

I'd given myself this week, to try and rectify it before reverting back to a previous Snapshot.

Thanks for the quick repsonse Tracey

I'm slowly re-entering info after reverting back to an old snapshot. (I finally conceded Tracey )

However, I thought it worth mentioning that it seems like Actinic did not like any of the Sections where I'd used the SPP Layout found in the AUG.

I wondered if anyone else had experienced the same problem or whether it could be something to do with the Product ID/Product Reference change I made because of an online error I'd spotted, this Thread.

                          Any thoughts?

P.S This is the Layout Code I'm using:

                          Code:
