Actinic Crashing

Actinic keeps crashing on me this morning. I am adding data to some custom variables that have been set up and as soon as I enter the data in one product and move to the next it crashes.

Have been entering custom variable data in last few days with no problems.

Everything else seems to be fine.

I have run compact database and this makes no diference

Anyone encountered this before and is so what did they do to cure it!

are you adding data to products that have duplicates? (ie. it's updating a duplicate at the same time as the main product)

There are some issues with updating custom variables and duplicates..like when you press 'update duplicates' after editting a CV (which is effectively the same as focussing away from it which also enters it if it's unmodifiable in the dupe..hope that makes sense!)

Try filling in the CV info, switching to the general tab of the product and then moving to the next one. sometimes it objects less to changing CVs in a dupe depending on what tab you're in at the time (goodness knows why!)

It's just an idea anyway, I've had similar problems in the past depending on what tab my CVs are in.

No product doesn't have duplicates - I saw that mentioned in various posts. Doesn't matter what I do after I add a variable as soon as I go to another product it crashes.

Interestingly have gone to a product where there is existing CV data and entered more and it works fine.

So problem only exists when adding data to a CV field where the product has no existing CV data.

Very odd - have found that this problem is only occuring in 1 section of products. If I create a new product within that section I get no crashing when adding data to the CVs. If I copy & paste (not paste as duplicate) then I can add data to the CVs.

Given there are only 10 products in this section I have done the above!

I used to have problems like this in V8, i ended up having to delete the section completely and recreate it, i guess something somewhere was corrupted. Other sections seem to be fine.

I never did get to the bottom of it but got so cheesed off with it i ended up be quicker to recreate.

from this being a minor bug bear when I was setting up the new site - it became a big issue last week when I was trying to change lots of data and actinic kept crashing. Support requested a snapshot and yesterday I heard back from them.

It seems that the issue was caused by orphaned products that referred to a user definable variable that no longer exits.

Once these were identified and deleted the problem went away.
