Link problems in FireFox but not in IE

Good evening all, hoping to pick a few Brains before turning in for the night.

I've just noticed that the links from:
    • Best Sellers
    • New Products
    • Just In

    at www.u-need-ink.co.uk

are throwing out a General Script Error in FF, but operate perfectly well in IE:

Error: Error opening ../acatalog/82Z152Z213Z249A1217278010B26418.session (Permission denied)
There are no Errors detailed in the FF Error Console, but a few "Decleration Dropped" and an "Unrecognized Chrome Registration..." Warning.

Any suggestions? I've been searching for a while and can't seem to find the pefect posted solution

tbh, they don't work in IE7 for me either
    General script error possible solutions

website purge and refresh (Help > Troubleshooting > Website purge and refresh)
Tick all 3 boxes but be aware that you will need to redo any script mods you have done after this (and re-upload)

Change the script ID (Web > Network Setup) and refresh. Usually advisable to FTP to the site and remove the old scripts from the cgi-bin before refreshing too.

One or the other of those will often fix a general script error so cross your fingers!

I think your find that the cgi-bin permissions are wrong these need to be set to 755

and please change the logo - if gabe sees that he will have you for using word art

According to filezilla that's exactly what the permissions are set to

Could you confirm why you think/know they're wrong?

The logo was passed to me from my client and was indeed originally done with WordArt, this version is actually an improvement...

Links are working fine in my IE

The permissions problem is on the acatalog folder, not the cgi-bin.

Make sure /acatalog/ has permissions on 755, although I believe sometimes 777 is needed to work properly.

Funny mike i had this a few years ago, were i had to set it to 777, cant even remember who this was with but took me ages to work it out, i guess the actalog was the clue there then .

and it does not work for me in IE7 exactly the same as FF

I have noticed your using bin for your cgi-bin. Did you create this under the root on your webserver?

If you did create it this maybe the problem, some host set up the cgi-bin outside of the root area, in which case you must use theirs, it will mean you will need to change the path to use this.

                    Just an after thought

I don't think the cgi-bin is the problem...

I've just changed the permissions to 777 on the acatalog folder and that seems to have done the trick.

If you get the chance, could you test the links for me?

Thanks for all your help guys, again

The best sellers seem to work fine for me.

i guess the actalog was the clue there then
Yes, that and the fact that I'd been playing around with the session files recently and knew exactly where they are (and the need to change permissions every time you want to see what's changed).

Actinic do seem to recommend 777 for the acatalog folder although 755 usually works. I guess it's to do with how the host has defined the user rights for the cgi-bin / scripts.
