SECTION PRIMAY TEMPLATE in version 9

When I wanted to import products in Actinic 7 there was a feature called SECTION PRIMAY TEMPLATE (i used it for Act_Primary2.html).

In Actinic 9, I can not find this? My products now in the OVERALL LAYOUT say (Act_Primary2.html). what was it changed to?

V9 does not use templates in the way that V7 did. There is no Act_Primary template in v9.

V9 has a Design tab where you can edit layouts etc in a much easier way. Select the page (section) you want to edit in the Design tab, click where you want to edit andiyou will see the code in the Code pane below.

Make snapshots before changing anything and read the getting started and standard help documentation. It's a big learning curve to go from V7 to V9 - forget everything you knew in V7 and assume you using new software for the design end.

no you dont have to do it one by one

you still assign a layout to a product or select use parent for globaly assigning layouts.

What Duncan is saying you change these layouts in a completely different way. Easier way IMHO (not at the time v8 was launched i admit)

What exactly are you trying to do?

When you upgrade the old templates keep the same name but become layouts in the library. You old Act_Primary2.html will be in the library under the Outer Layout folder as this is a main layout that sets the overall design of a page. The name will be the same but the template will have been upgraded to make it v9 compatible. Not entirely sure what this has to do with importing products though

I've just had this problem myself.

In V8 and beyond some of the fields for products and sections are now stored as properties and have different names for import than their V7 conterparts, the solution is easy I think you can either rename them in the import file or you can map them in the import wizard.

These are the ones that affected my import, product template was easy to map but the section ones have me a bit confused :

(V7 - now)
Product :
Product Tempate - ProductLayout

Section :
Section Template - Overall product main area layout ??
Child Placement - Can't see where this maps to
Overall default layout - I think that this one might not be required anymore - it was the checkbox that allowed you to change the section placement settings.

Does anyone know what the mappings should be here?

Section Template in v7 equates to the Section Link in v8 (which is for the Section Link Layout)

This has been split and there are two layout variables used - SubSectionListTop and SubSectionListBottom

Overall default layout - I think that this one might not be required anymore - it was the checkbox that allowed you to change the section placement settings.

Do you mean 'Override default settings' as I can't see 'Overall default layout' in v7. If so, then yes, it isn't used anymore as the two layouts above have removed the need for it.
