not wanting to sound like a muppet but are actinic.css and theme.css generated by actinic or at some point in the last few years did I put them there?

I did have a play with CSS a few years ago and gave up so I think my problems are caused by a mix of CSS and lots of over complex HTML tags.

They are both generated by Actinic. You can get to the actinic.css via the design tab and the themes.css should really be integrated into the actinic.css

They are both generated by Actiinic but you could have made modifications to them at some stage.
