    Discount rounding issue

I have seen this before and got around it with product prices but I have found an issue with discounting on Cart content which leaves an annoying overcharge of 1p.

Ok, we have a 6% discount if the user buys more than £163.79 worth of goods. Set up as seen in discount2.jpg

Doing the calculation as the user would see it:
    £41.99 x 5 = £209.95
    x 6% = £12.60
    £209.95 - £12.60 = £197.35

This is taking 6% from the gross cart value

However, Actinic doesn't quite get it right as can be seen in discount1.jpg

I have tried all combinations of 'Based On' and it all comes out the same.

What I want it to do is remove the 6% exactly as the customer would see it.

because we enter all internet orders into our Business Managment system we are having to leave 1p as a credit on the customers account.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks

This probably a vat issue I expect, can you try it on the non VAT inclusive total instead?

funnily enough I tried all three settings with exactly the same result.

I thought the VAT inc setting would actually remove it from the total but it doesn't.

Even when 'inc VAT' is used for displaying prices, actinic still works on the ex-vat price.

Actinis is doing the sums correctly, it's just that the discount is given on the ex-VAT price and the effect of rounding means the discount ends up 1p less than if it was based on the gross total.

V9 has the option of using VAT inclusive prices for everything (rather than just displaying them) and this should then work the way you want it to.

Actinic has made a huge effort to implement this on V9 and I'll be making the move as soon as 9.0.3 gets released (barring any major problems). Hopefully, everything will work OK but as it hasn't been stress tested yet I can't say for sure.

Thanks all for your help, I had an idea it would be due to the same rounding issue we have with the standard prices.
