One thing I should add is that other programs can see what Actinic can't. That's to say that I can open a program (I've tried The GIMP, Internet Explorer and even Windows Media Player), click on Open and navigate to the files in Actinic's Site 1 and they are displayed and they open. I've not yet found a program other than Actinic that can't find them.

Can you post one of the files as an example?

I don't think it's going to be anything to do with the file, since my designer has just sent me one (better than the ones I made myself) and that too is invisible to Actinic. But FWIW here's one of my files.

What are you trying to add the image to? A product, main image or thumbnail, or a section image? I'll try and simulate it.

The image sits in a fragment on the home page. There's a .gif there at present as a placeholder, and I have no difficulty substituting for it the one that Actinic can find. Not the ones it can't.

I've been whiling away the time doing checkdisks and system restores, with some dismal results in other quarters but no change in Actinic.

I have been trying to address the problem on my other computer. I copied the .acd files from my backup folder into the one on the laptop. I then try importing one or other of them and I get some 30 error messages.

PLEASE can somebody tell me whether it can be done.

You can import a snapshot onto another computer but make sure they are both running exactly the same version. You shouldn't get errors unless the shapshot is corrupt or you have different versions.

                  try this:

Open my computer and use it to navigate to your site1 folder. At thie point, get eyes on your image. Make sure its in that folder. Right click on the header part, until you get a menu that allows you to enable the address bar.

After you can see the path, highlight, right click and copy.

Go to actinic, click browse for an image and paste this path. This makes sure we're in the right place.

Then in the filename part type: *.*

                  (thats star dot star)

Then press enter, this will show all files in this location.

If your file isnt there, then your computer is having a laugh with you. Take it high in the air and throw if from something tall.

Mystery solved, with help from my designer.

I had TWO Actinic V8 folders, one in Program Files, one in Shared Documents. That must date back to last year when I first installed the trial version, having even less idea than now of what I was doing.

I had only managed to get the first of my .gifs into the right Site 1 folder.

My thanks to all the kind souls above who laboured to save me from myself, and my apologies to them!
