    v9+Postcode Anywhere+SSL=Broken

    Hey guys.

I'm here in the hope somebody else who is using Postcode Anywhere with their v9 sites (or even a hacked-in v8 site) and SSL certificate on the checkout. (See site in signature).

Okay, let's say you want to buy some garden vouchers - and you add to cart, select the quantity, click Checkout Now. Then the SSL kicks in on the 'Select Shipping Destination' page. Go ahead, select your country, and proceed by clicking Go, as you would. This next page (invoice address details) gets a red cross through the SSL padlock ("Contains unauthenticated content")- something's bad and I think it can only be caused by Postcode Anywhere - as it's fine when I take Postcode Anywhere out. (Going to the final checkout page before firing across to Protx is also ok in terms of SSL - assuming this confirms the latter comment).

Is there anything I can do in the meantime to get that padlock nice and shiny?

On other news - I have noticed a reduction in abandoned carts ever since I implemented postcode anywhere into the site. Perhaps a coincidence, perhaps not. Although I also have received more phone calls from customers worried about their browsers saying it's not secured. If I can get this resolved, I'd say that's 45 quid well spent

the SSL problem is well documented on the forum and can be solved by using a https:// version of their code.
I'd be surprised if it isn't in the knowledgebase also.

Well, I'll be damned if I could find it in the KB. And if it is in there - maybe Actinic could throw a couple of programmers on the matter, because the search function obviously doesn't do its job

CD stated in the past on the forum that it's a bug that has been reported to be fixed in a future release - version 9.03 or in a few lightyears? To be honest, I'm rather quite disturbed that such an obvious flaw could be found in the system, when security is the core basis of an ecommerce site. Anything that leads a potential customer to believe the site isn't secure obviously isn't going to part with their details on a website that pops up to inform them the site isn't secure.

I'm not sure if i understand the issue here.

As i read it if you have an SSL cert on your site you need to use https code when calling Postcode anywhere to avoid the secure/insecure error message. Its not a bug..... Its the same as when you add GA code, on non SSL page you use http on SSL pages you use https .

the search in the forum is well known to be difficult, thats why the google search link is there as an additional search option. Personally I use the Google option regularly which is much more sucessful. Throwing actinic programmers will do little to resolve it as the forum is a bought in item of software from VBulletin. Let Actinic programmers concentrate on 9.0.3

Oh, oh. Seems like Actinic staff tell two different stories

With all due respect, wouldn't it be wise to take a look at the vBulletin supporters lounge and integrate the search plugins which make the Search function actually useful?

Have Actinic got an even remote idea when 9.03 will be released?

this in itself proves that the issue could be found on a forum search!

I didn't say it WAS in the Knowledgebase, just that I wouldn't be surprised if it is. I'm actually surprised that it isn't but it's in the forum so you would have found it if you'd looked before posting anyway.
