Red missing image crosses in preview - but not on all computers

When I go to preview my page I can see the content but I can't see my images. This initially sounds like a path issue, however if I snapshot the site and import it onto a completely difference machine this doesn't happen and images can be viewed.

I've tried turning off my Anti-virus and Firewall but this hasn't made a difference and my security settings in IE7 are set to medium-high the same as other machines.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Where are your images stored? Are they in your site1 folder (or a subfolder within it) or somewhere else?
Are these hardcoded image references (in your layouts) that you're referring to or your product images?

Just a few Qs before we can offer some suggestions

My client is getting this same issue. The missing images are ones that were hardcoded in.

The strange thing is that importing it on my machine into V9 works perfectly and on another PC we tried. It just seems to be on the one PC my client wishes to manage the site from.

Is it a local path issue? That's the only thing I can think of but I can't find where this could be amended?

      Any help would be appreciated!

The questions above still stand....are the images in Site1 or a subfolder of that?
Is this Vista user related perhaps?

hardcoded as in..in the actual layouts and not the product images??
If the answer to that is yes, you will need your images to be IN the site folder and NOT in a subfolder within in.

Hi guys, i'm a bit confused now.

The issue is only on the computer, not the live site which was uploaded from the previous machine.

You say the images should be in the Site1 folder rather than Site1/img/ so why does it work on all the other computers except this one if that's the case?

I've always stored images in a subfolder for 4 sites i've made using Actinic and never had a problem with any of them until now.

I'll ask about Vista, do you think this could be the cause?

Look at the source of a generated page (in IE do View / Source) and report what the image filenames are. Search for part of the name to get you there.

you've not really answered any questions, Ricky, which makes it impossible to help you much!
If you are referencing images in the layouts (ie hardcoded) then you will need them to be directly in the Site folder to work in the PREVIEW (they may still work fine online)
the reason they probably work on other computers *could* be down to the way Actinic stores/references the images when it creates a snapshot.

But if you're saying this is always the way you've done it and it's always worked until now then who am I to disagree?

I'm not trying to be awkward here and I feel I have answered all your questions. I know for a fact that it is not because it is in a sub-folder as it has, and is still working on all but this one instance, both live and locally. I have now discovered this is the case on both XP and vista platforms supporting sites I have made. I'm not saying your wrong but it is not the cause of the problem here.

I already said earlier that they are the harcoded images and not the product images as in the images I coded into the layouts myself and images that were hardcoded into the original imported template from Dreamweaver.

I haven't got an example page to show you as it is all working fine online as I already stated.

I agree it may be a snapshot issue which is why I suggested it was prob to do with the 'Local File Path'. My query was why does this local path that Actinic uses not work on this particular machine when it works in several other instances? If it were a problem with a sub-folder in the Site1 folder then why does it still find the custom stylesheets, flash movies and downloadables that are also stored in sub-folders?

Other than this I wasn't asked any questions except by Norman which I am looking into now.

Give us a code example of how your hardcoded images are referenced in Actinic too please!
                        Cheers

One possibility, is your client using the same drive reference on his PC that you use i.e. is Actinic installed on the c: drive for all machines?
