    Empty Shopping Cart problem

    Hi,

I am new to actinic and so far all has gone well in editing the layout etc to get the site online. Now i have come to setting up the shopping cart i have problems:

    when items are added to the cart they display fine then;
    - when complete checkout is clicked the cart empties
    - when the cart retunrs and a second item is added to the cart it relpaces the first and the same problems apply thereafter

My server is 1and1 business package.
I have searched and searched all day and get lots of issues with claranet but little mention of 1and1 problems.

I found a post which spoke of server time issues. I do not know what to do about this. there is no mention of it in my 1and1 package and nothing in their help knowledgebase.

other things mentioned in posts include cgi script problems. I have a BIN folder in my directory which is at the same level as the acatalog folder. I think everything in this folder is correct

    can anybody help me. please

Check the server times or your expiry periods, for expiry periods 'Web | Configure Expiry Periods' and the server time you can check from your 'Help | Troubleshooting' menu.

      Thakns for your response bruce_king

the expiry periods says 3 hours and the server time shows the correct current time

i am guessing therefore neither of these are wrong and it is something else. any suggestions?

i have done the website analysis and all is correct

below is the actinic diagnostic report:: it means absolutely nothing to me but i cannot be the only one whose cartremains empty - surely

      any ideas greatly appreciated

Empty cart problems are usually cookie related:

          1. Privacy settings in browser.

          2. Switching domains at checkout.

          3. Cookie expiry, often because the user has the wrong time zone and/or date set on their PC.

If you have a problem in this area then give us your url and we'll take a look for you.

            I solved it

Just for the record, I have just had the same problem, but the answer was so obscure, that it may not have had the same cause as this one.

Once it occurred, my first instinct was to just reload the website. I had some issues as it wouldn't load without coaxing. Eventually, I tried the 'load using HTML' option and I got an error message telling me the ftp location was full.

I deleted some files and I could load. Voila, the problem had gone.
            Kind regards,
            Phil Benjamin
