Error message and products lost after importing

    Hi

I am working from my pc at home and trying to add content to my catalogue. I have 14 brands needing added which works out around 5000 products.

I have managed to add 10 brands via import so far, piecemeal..but when I try and import any more I get the following error message,

and all my products are lost, but the sections remain.

My db size is 72MB so far, and I am following the single product per section method.

I copied and pasted 4 existing brands and there was no issue, but that will take too long to do when I have the work sitting as csv files.

I wondered if anyone else had was faced with a similar problem. Is there a limit to how many sections there are????

Are you importing the products directly or externally linking to a spreadsheet?

Just a flat file import. The same issue occurs if I copy and paste from another site.

Weird error message for just a flat file import. How many fields in the import amd what names? Are you using any unusual characters in the file?

It sure is. The following fields are populated :

          Section text
          SectionDescription
          Short description
          Full description
          Price
          Can be ordered online
          Min quantity orderable
          TaxTreatment
          Display by button

Will have a look at the files to be imported.. there could be some products that have the trade mark symbol in the short description and html name.

I take it there are loads of people running single product per section on thousands of items with no issue? I was worried that I had too many sections, but I don't think thats the case now.

The other thing is I can import the troublesome brands no problem into a blank site (multi site), could it be a memory issue on my PC I wonder?

Try and split the inport into smaller chunks and see if that helps. Don't forget to compact the database regulalry as well.
