    Snapshot Folder Resets

In the versions I have used prior to v9 when you made a snapshot Actinic remembered the path to the folder and the last file name used, the next time you made a snapshot.

Now with v9 we get a new improved file name that includes the date, but the folder resets back to being within the v9 installation folder each time. So whereas before I only needed to change a digit or two on the date, now each time I do a snapshot I have to spend much more effort and time browsing to the folder on our shared drive where we keep the snapshots so that they get backed up every night.

Pretty annoying when one is developing a site and frequent snapshots are called for. Is this a new feature, a bug, or a problem with my installation?

    Any ideas or comments?

OK, thanks. (I did search for this subject but nothing obvious came up).

          It is annoying.

A workaround I use is to make a shortcut to the folder you keep the snapshots in in the folder Actinic thinks you should keep them. You only need to click on the shortcut then rather than navigate your way there.

Hope its not changed but just added to as whilst i agree it would be nice to dictate folder, the automatic site name and date is what we asked for

Could be improved by setting up once and than a single click for each site backup which would also need to add time to date function

I think the point is that it has changed - and for the worse. Previously Actinic would remember the file path and default to that path on the next snapshot. Adding the new facility to generate the file name to include the date should not have changed the pre-existing feature that remembered the path to the folder where the file should be located.

I agree that if you do your snapshot backups to the C drive where Actinic is installed then this won't be seen as a problem, but if like many of us you do frequent snapshots to another drive, (such as a network drive on a server so that they get backed up nightly), then it is a large frustration.

I think CD has promised that this will be addressed in the new version as it was annoying the hell out of him too. This was a perfect example of the lack of external testing (at that time), where they had no idea at all what happens in the real world. They have now addressed that somewhat and this problem should be addressed, so hopefully another annoying issue will be put to bed shortly (1-3 months (ish)).
