Web Server Timed Out (Fasthosts hosting)

    Hi,

    I recently upgraded to 9.0.2.0.0.0.IFZA

I keep getting the message of :-

"Actinic received a timeout error from the web server. The server is too busy right now. Try again later"

The error occurs when im trying to retrieve my orders and upload. I can ftp into my webspace without an issue. The connection isnt slow etc. Therefore, im not sure if the message is true?

    Anyone had this before?

Retreiving orders requires a Perl script to run on your server. It's probably this process that timing out. FTP is a completely different type of protocol that needs little server resources.

If Perl is timing out, I'd also expect problems in Add to Cart, Checkout, and especially the Search facility. See if they're failing too.

Check this thread. Seems to be a Fasthosts problem.

So do you think it is a server issue or actinic issue?

                      Hi,

                      Yes its fasthosts ....

Great, looks like I'll have 2 days of arguing with fasthosts of whether its the app or the webspace.

Well you could take the easy way out, buy a new hosting package with a different company and change your named servers instead. That could save you 1 day 23 hours and 55 minutes, cos you sure as hell will have to in the end, as it's plain bonkers to stay where you are.

I love fasthosts for Windows non-actinic hosting, best i've found.

For actinic sites, they are suicide. Have a read of the forum, where have you been not to have read it? You've missed a forum equivalent to a nuclear bomb.
