    Add hidden products to cart

I seem to remember being able to add hidden products to my cart using the http://your.URL/cgi-bin/ca000001.pl?...=PRODUCT&Q_7=5 script.

However now I am trying to do this and I see the add to cart confirmation but when I confirm and Actinic tries to display the cart, I get the message that my shopping cart is empty.

Can anyone please confirm if this is possible?

Works fine for me. I tested on the standard demo site (where the Computer Monitors are hidden). Then on the Books page, I pasted

    !!<<a href="http://mega/cgi-bin/ca008004.pl?SID=5&PAGE=PRODUCT&Q_17=1">21 inch MONITOR</a>>!!

    into a product description.

Tested on 851HIZA with the Computers section using any off Quantity on Product Page, Quantity on Confirmation Page and Quantity in Shopping Cart.

UPDATE. There is a quirk, in that when viewing the Cart there is a link to the product in the product name. Clicking this will give you a message that the product cannot be located.

Hi Norman, thanks I thought it was possible. I don't know why it is suddenly not working on our website.

That link won't work properly if clicked on from here (Cart thinks your site is based on community.actinic.com). Best provide a normal .html page URL that contains the link in question.

I have added to a page as you suggested. http://www.eleco.com/3darchitect-sto...ial_Offer.html

Still getting the problem. I am begining to think it could be a server issue.

Was the product uploaded and then hidden or just hidden from the start? Perhaps the product needs to be loaded to the server, then hidden, before it can be added. Just a thought, probably way off.

It was uploaded and the add to cart link worked when uploaded. Then when I hid the product and refreshed, the link stops working.

On my demo site, the computer monitors are hidden within a visible page. They've never been uploaded at any time.

There may be operational differences netween a hidden Section and products hidden within a visible Section.

Add a new section, put just this one product in it, do not hide the section, instead use a block if to stop it being shown in the site menu. You can also remove it from the sitemap by using the checkbox on the section. You then end up with a perfectly normal section and product and it is just what we call an orphaned page as it has no links pointing to it. Job done.

Gabe's tutorials on blockifs and the inbuilt help on how to create a variable is all you need to use.

I tried you suggestion using the AUG instructions, however only the section title is hidden in the menu. The bullet point next to the title remains, along with a small line space.

Thanks for your suggestions, I will read Gebe's block threads to see if I can work out how to remove the other menu elements.
