VAT EXEMPTION - only for registered users?

I run a retail site, but we also sell to the trade in the EU.
For trade sales, we must allow VAT exemption.
How can I only show the VAT exemption box for registered customers?

    thanks

(is the answer a BLOCK IF?)

I can't answer the design question - although a block if on is logged in or something along those lines will probably be the answer - but I just wanted to point out that vat exemption status is entered as part of the customer account details for registered customers rather than entered when the order is placed.

      Cheers Jan.

I don't know what BLOCKIF's are, but I hear them mentioned. I need to point my designer chap towards somewhere...

Gabriel has some good tutorials - the first one is here:

          Regards,
Do you mean that so long as I set someone up for exemption, they won't get charged it?

Heck, I'll try it (I prefer the roll up sleeves method, even on our live site ;-))

            Ooh, look at that.

I've never really played with layouts, but there's a thing there so you can just hide the boxes on the checkout page (relying on the stuff in the customer login instead).

            Uploading now.

That is what I meant and I think actually that for logged in customers ticking the VAT examption boxes has no effect, you would need to check the last point though.
