What Features are not in the Sage Link?

    Hi

We have a potential customer who started out with Actinic by getting it from Sage and just installing the CD with a basic theme. They maintain all of their products from Sage and process all of the orders in Sage. However, in looking to revamp their website and upgrade them to Actinic Business Plus v9, I am concerned that there are a lot of features that might not be supported by the Sage Link, so that they really need to learn to use the Actinic interface for themselves.

My thoughts are that the following are not suppported by the Sage Link:
    • Features such as:
      - specifying actual html file names for section pages
      - specifying keywords and description meta tags on pages
    • Brochure pages
    • Fragments used on product pages
    • Some of the Actinic Marketing Module features including:
      - Best Sellers
      - Also Bought...
      - Related products
      - Coupons
      - Sophisticated discounting

However, can anyone confirm or correct me on these?

    Thanks

    Hi Tim,

I'm assuming that you mean when transferring the products from Sage to Actinic. I'm no Sage expert but as far as I can see those features you list do not seem to be in Sage (although I could be wrong) so how would Link be able to transfer it to Actinic (Brochure pages and fragments are Actinic specific so wouldn't be in Sage anyway)? All the Link software does is transfer the data that is in Sage into Actinic.

      Hi Tracey

My thoughts exactly, but not being a Sage expert either, I just needed confirmation about this, (especially file/page names & keywords), before explaining it to the client.

Up to now they have not had to do much with Actinic, running everything from Sage. As they also have thriving over-the-counter outlets it makes sense for them to operate from a common database of products for pricing and stock control, but as they want to expand their web presence, then I think that they will need to change their current approach.
