    xhtml compliant

Hello, I have developed a couple of actinic stores now and have been trying to get them up and listed on google and various other search engines.
In the process began to try to make my sites xhtml compliant and have ran into a few problems.
It seems that xhtml validators don't recognise actinic tags. Here are a couple of the errors I have experienced.

line 12 column 7 - Error: <actinic:basehref> is not recognized!
line 37 column 4 - Error: <actinic:cookiecheck> is not recognized!
line 164 column 2 - Error: <actinic:notinb2b> is not recognized!
line 583 column 7 - Error: <actinicrices> is not recognized!

I was wondering if there was a way of getting round this and making these tags xhtml compliant?
Or if not what to do next in order to get my site xhtml compliant?

Any suggestions are more than welcome...

    Thanks

    Chris

Delete the tags and use Notepad to code the site .... you will never get Actinic to validate .. you can get close (there is a large existing thread on this) but never 100% ... that is the trade off of functionality of the shopping cart.

XHTML will make no difference IMO - if your sites are not being listed then there is almost certainly something else wrong. Out the box Actinic performs very well on all search engines

        Thanks

        Hey,

Thanks for the quick replies ppl!
You said just delete the tags, does that mean I would totally comment them out and the site would run correctly?

I was going to do that but I saw

<!-- Placeholder of cookie checking javascript code. Do not remove it! -->
        <Actinic:COOKIECHECK />

and the </Actinic:PRICES> tags looked quite important so I decided not to.

Its not that I cant get my site listed its because google has rules about xhtml compliancy and with it you can get higher in the list faster.

So is that the way to do? delete the tags and hope for the best?

        Thanks again

        Chris

Well we will have to disagree on that one

Delete the tags and rewrite everything in Notepad was a Jonty jest. It was to show that the only way to get 100% validity would be to ditch Actinic.

We occasionally get posters who go completely fanatic about losing every table tag or achieving 100% something-or-other compliance. They're generally wasting a huge amount of time and effort for negligible, if indeed any, real-world gain.

Sorry - I was not recommending you delete the tags and retain Actinic as that would nadge the site completely.

You are really best advised spending time elsewhere on the site to achieve better listings than compliance ... this can help but is a drop in the ocean compared to say content, title tags, links etc etc.

There really is some bullsh!t talked about SEO.

Actinic 'out of the box' is excellent, with some attention to individual page titles, sections etc, Great!

This chap has some good, sound, realistic advice.
                Well worth a look.
