Web page - Access Denied - Problem

Hello,

We have been have some problems for quite sometime, with users of our site, randomly getting-a Access Denied message, on some pages.

This problem does not follow any pattern and I have not been able see this message on any of our computers, for a few months. Over the last 48 hours slaes have dropped and I have been getting calls from site users saying they cant make orders and are getting a Access Denied message. So, I am starting to panic a bit.

The problems seem to come from the actinic generated addresses, for example the best seller links on the main page, and the nav bar - most worrying the checkout and cart buttons.

We have also had a problem with the roll thro' java menus, in the side bars, actinic very sometimes changes the /acatalog/ to /cgi-bin/, this sometimes shows up in our google webmasters tools - Web crawl errors - URL not found. Currently we have 80 pages showing as errors in this way - /cgi-bin/ instead of /acatalog/

I have talked to tech support about all this and they have a clue and have referred me to my sever, I have spoken to my hosting and they say its to do with the way the software is sep up on the sever.

I need to sort out all of this asap, can anybody help?

May i suggest the first thing you do is completely refresh your website. Its possible that the scripts have become corrupt.

Do you have a url so we can take a look - worth remembering this if you post again (im guessing it is one in your signature)

who is your host - possible others have had the same issue and can help.

your site seems fine to me, but without sounding horrible i would say the design probably has more to do with the low orders

I'm sure this site didn't look like that the last time I had a peek. Didn't you ask for a site review? I seem to remember it was green, not scary Halloween purple.

Thanks for all the replies.

The site is indeed http://www.indigo-herbs.co.uk sorry I should of been clearer about that.

Last night I did a pruge and refresh, I am intrested if anybody gets the access denied message, as it seems to work fine on my machines, but I could see a problem in the first place.

As for the design, Thanks for all the kind comments. The orders have been at a very good level for quite some time its only over the last day or so I have been getting phone calls reporting to me that the site isnt working very well.

What about the problem that I mentioned about the errors in google web master tools?
Has anyone had the same sort of thing?

Well if the url's are wrong in the menus, then the web crawl will be wrong, also this could be attributed to your site map being wrong because the url is again wrong. This depends on how you generate it.

I am no SEO expert so someone here might be able to offer other advice.

Your cgi-bin errors are because your scroll list doesn't work when viewed on a cgi-bin page (such as the cart / checkout pages).

Ah ha.... You are right... Thats it. that is what is causeing the problem.

OK then what to do?

How can this be sorted any ideas?

the scroll list isn't native actinic, so i'd remove it for a few days and see if your problems go away then look to integrate it properly

Just fix your scroll list.

This is what you have:

which doesn't specify the path anywhere.

I use a similar one on my site, but in this case I do specify the path and it does work from the cgi bin:

Remember to put your own domain in where it says 'mydomain'.

Those scroll bars are very similar to some black hat seo techniques for injecting key words so I would be carefull
