    "Catalogue Order Received" updates

I regularly receive the "Catalogue Order" received emails in Outlook and this is obviously a very reliable source of order notification.
But, when I was using the 30 day trial of Actinic hosted on Actinic's servers, I seem to remember that if an order had been placed on the site, I would also get a notification from Actinic on start up, that an order had been placed.
From memory the message read something like "A catalogue order has been received since you last downloaded. Would you like to retrieve it now?"

Am I correct or am I barking up the wrong tree and my memory is playing tricks on me?

If I am correct, how do I also get this feature up and running? Is it an Actinic setting I can switch on, or, is it a server setting that I have to request?

    thanks
    Max

You do get that email yes, but a lot of people make the mistake of thinking that you get it for each and every order, this is not the case. You get one email about an order and you won't get any further like that until you have downloaded all of the existing orders on your server. It's a bit like a global message saying you 'have orders' but you only get told once until you've been and got them, when it will fire the message again on the next order.

Mmmmh. Not sure I've made my question very clear. I'll try again.

Assuming I hadn't checked my emails, and didn't have Outlook up and running, is there anyway that Actinic can tell me that I have received an order?

Like I said earlier, I'm sure when I was running the trial version of Business, I'd also get a message from Actinic upon start up to say that orders had been received.

Make sure it is switched on in business settings (ordering tab) if so, run a network test and see if you get the test email.

It's like two seperate discussions going on.

Lee - It's not emails he's talking about. he wants actinic to show him a pop up when it's started.

I've never seen this and do not see how it can do it. Actinic won't know there are any orders until you download them. Once you download them it tells you many orders have been received.

Hmm i did completely miss the point here didn't I, apologies Max. I never clicked on what you are talking about as it doesn't exist as far as I know. Why would a feature work on trial hosting when you have no real orders and not at any other time. I think it was in your imagination, if not, then woot at the new feature.

The point of the email is to prompt you to go into the software I guess, if you are already in there, then just click download would be their thinking. This is why auto download of orders should be integral.

One thing I do now is use the 'also send confirmation emai'l to send an email to myself so I know when I get multiple orders
