If you put the part number in the description field, it will find it then.

          Kessock,

I think Actinic does include the reference number in the search, but if you have dots, slashes or dashes in your part numbers you have to make sure they are valid characters.

When I first did our site, I was told Actinic would not find the part number unless it was in the description. Being a good solider, I dutifully added the part numbers to each and every description (HUGE hassle).

Then - I read the KB article Bruce references above and realized that all of my part numbers used punctuation - dots, dashes or slashes. I simply added the dot, slash and dash to the valid characters field in Settings/Search Settings/Search Options.

Try my search page - http://www.allzim.com/acatalog/search.html

          and the part number 944.102/105.EKT

          Hope that helps.

            Thanks for the input.
I have followed the instructions in Bruces link, however when I edit the code in the searchscript.pl and save it comes up with the message cannot find file please ensure path is correxct which I have checked and it is.
            Any ideas.
            Thanks.

Use notepad to open it, make your changes to it and then close it saving the changes. I can't see how you can get an error message if you do that as you know it exists as it is open right in front of you.

                Strange I know.
I did use notepad and simply saved it whilst everything was open infront of me but it throws up that error message.
I will have to have a go another time when I have5 minutes to look at why it is happening.
                Thanks.

Your editing of SearchScript.pl seems to be problematical.

You may have the O/S or an anti-virus / spyware program interfering.

It would help if you told us your operating system, and at which of the 11 steps in http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=45362 things go wrong.
