Order Numbers back to zero and address on invoice

    Hi,

I hope someone can help. Two questions:

    1) My order numbers are currently in the initials, postcode, order number format as per the set up. But I want just a sequential order number... maybe something like DFD0001, DFD0002, DFD0003 etc... How do I do that please? Also I want to start it at zero, not to continue at my current order number.

    2) On the invoices that get emailed to my customers, there is no address field. Is there a box that I need to tick to get the address back (presuming I stupidly removed it)? I may have removed it initially (long story) but now need to put it back. If I manually send an order email via the Mail tab in the orders section, that does include my address, but the automatic emails that go to me and my customers when an order is placed do not include my address.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Jenny

    1. The answer is already on the forum

    2. Look in your originals file for the original emails

      Thanks for your reply.

      1) I tried looking for the answer but have been unable to, hence my question posted here. In the FAQ I found a bit about making the order number shorter but not re-setting it.

      2) I do not know what the originals file is. Can you please explain?

        1. A forum search for "order numbers" brought up this thread half way down the second page. http://community.actinic.com/showthr...=order+numbers It's probably a good starting point.

        2. Sorry meant Original 'folder' not file: It's in the 'Actinic V8' folder on your PC.

          Thanks

          1) Yes, this is what I have found in FAQ or somewhere. I find the instructions assume a bit more knowledge than I have. Do you know where I would find orderscript.pl please? Also, doing this won't re-set me back to zero will it, or will it? I guess I try and see, if I can find the file I need to alter

          2) I found that folder but not sure what to do next. Oh well, I wonder if I can get round it. I went into the Actinic programme (I prefer doing things that way than messing about with files - call me a big inexperienced chicken) and went to the design tab and selected Customer Email. I can simply add my address in to that I guess.

            - You'll find the files actinic uses in your 'Site1' folder (including the .pl ones).
            - The thread I linked to links to another thread that explans how to reset / alter the order number counter,
            - Yes, you can always just manually edit the email. If it was me though, I'd compare the Act_CustomerEmail.txt file in the 'original' folder with the one you have in your 'site1' folder and either use the default one or make whatever changes I though appropriate.

Thank you so much Mike. I have now managed to change my order numbers, with your help. It is now DFD13729, which is about right cos my last order number was MV30BS10003728. I then tried that reset thing and now it is DFD10001. Hum... why isn't it DFD00001? Any ideas please Mike?

OK, the other issue. I have looked in the 'original' folder and feel pretty silly cos I can't find a text file called Act_CustomerEmail.txt

                - The first '1' is the number you're using for your scripts. You can delete it if you want to by clearing that bit from the line you've already changed. The details are on the forum somewhere, but you'll have to search for them.

                - Sorry again. I'm sure I checked that the txt file was there in V8 but it looks like it isn't. In V8 and V9 Actinic took the details into the database (One of actinics stupidest decisions as now everything is hidden away in the database).

The details of how to change the customer email are in the knowledge base:

How do I amend the email that the customer receives when an order is placed?

On the Design tab use the drop down against 'Select Page Type' to select the appropriate email layout. You will now be able to edit the layout code. Click on 'Apply' to preview the changes.
Unfortunately, you can't compare what you have with the original but I assume you can 'revert' it back (but then you're stuck with the changes). Probably easier to just add the address line you want.

Design > Library > Layouts > Email outer Layouts

if it's not an upgraded email template, then you should be able to Right click > Compare with Factory Version here (or even revert to factory)

If it's an upgraded one, compare visually with an original V8/9 one and copy/paste to suit.
